All humans are not the same. Some people always tend to do extraordinary things in their lives. As a result, they stand above the rest of the people in terms of their actions. A 53 yr old, Russia based tech billionaire, Yuri Milner announced that he would be funding $100 million science project that was launched by British based physicist, cosmologist, Stephen Hawking, to search for intelligent life in space. At the Royal Society in London, the breakthrough initiatives funded by USA based billionaire and Silicon Valley Technology investor Yuri Milner was announced. The first initiative named as ” Breakthrough Listen” was regarded as the biggest scientific search undertaken for finding intelligent life outside planet earth or commonly known as extraterrestrial life.
Scientists and researchers of University of Berkeley would come to work together on two worlds powerful telescopes Parkes Telescope in NSW, Australia and Green Bank Telescope, West Virginia, USA. Many innovative things have also been planned to be done. The combination of both science that can offer amazing machines and Silicon Valley which offers in data processing are taken into consideration in this project that would be of 10 years in duration. Surveying of 1,000,000 closest stars to the planet Earth and beyond the Milky Way would be carried out.
Milner stated that, the data accumulated would be made visible for the public and any person can come and look at this data and can find a signal. In 2009, Milner came to Silicon Valley as an outsider and minted loads of money investing in Facebook, Twitter, Alibaba by his DST Global. Milner joined Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s co founder Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki to set up Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences that gives 3million USD to those who had contributed to the discoveries extending human lives.
Milner spoke about his eagerness to know about life existing outside earth ever since he was a child. He was inspired by the famous Yuri Gagarin, Russian Cosmonaut. Milner further added that, this programme would cover ten times more of the sky and five times more of the radio spectrum. This project would also be hundred to thousand times more powerful than any of the other projects carried out before.
Another initiative named ”Breakthrough Message’’ was also announced, which would fund international competition to get messages that represents Earth and humanity, that would be sent to other civilizations in the future.
Many scientists are of the view that, development of radio signalling would also make others to use it. Billionaire Milner is not the only one who have great interest in space apart from business of other types in the world. He joins Elon Musk, SpaceX chief executive, who wanted to colonize Mars in the future.
