A Spanish bullfighter was gravely gored to death during a live TV broadcast making him the first professional killed in the ring in more than 30 years. The brave bullfighter was killed by the horns of a bull named Lorenzo.
Victor Barrio, 29, died at the bull ring in an eastern town of Spain, the Associated Press reported. The 1100+ pound bull gored Victor twice, first in the thigh, knocking him down, then again in the chest, puncturing his lung and aorta.
The Medics were quickly at his side, but attempts to save his life failed. Victor’s death in the ring prompted widespread reaction throughout Spain. The Wife of the Bullfighter was present in the crowd and watched in horror as her husband was gored to death.
“My condolences to the family and colleagues of Victor Barrio, the deceased bullfighter this evening in Teruel. Rest in Peace,” Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy tweeted.
As per Spanish tradition, the mother of the bull which gored the bullfighter in the chest, causing fatal injuries, was sent off to be slaughtered to “kill off the bloodline”.
