A mobile phone of its own kind and probably a breakthrough in the world of mobile phones. The Nextbit Robin is available for pre-orders and has sparked a lot of enthusiasm among the technology geeks as the company claims it to be phone with unlimited storage capacity. The company Nextbit has made the phone for the market for the people who hate restrictions with respect to storing and backing up data from the applications in the phone.

The company Nextbit is established by two former Google employees who worked to design and program the Android platform for Google , they go by the names, Tom Moss and Mike Chan. The company’s chief product design officer is an ex-HTC designer, Scott Croyle who worked in creating the design for HTC’s One M7, M8 and Evo phones. The founders emphasized on creating a phone which has deep integration with cloud storage which resulted in the creation of their first phone the Robin whose production funding was done by the crowd, has a 32 GB internal storage and a 100 GB cloud storage facility.

The Robin is equipped with a 5.2 inch full HD display which is very good for the price range and also protected with a Gorilla Glass 4 protection which is resistant to scratches and knocks. The phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor with 3 GB RAM. It also flaunts a 13 megapixels primary camera with face detection as well as an LED flash, it has a 5 megapixels secondary camera which is pretty standard as these days all phones are being provided with a good front camera.

The phone is made and designed in a stylish and sleek manner but is not a phone which can slip out of the hands of the user far too easily. The speaker of the phone is on the front of the phone and at both ends, the phone is also given a finger print scanner for security purposes right on the lick screen button which is very easy to access. The phone runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow software and the company guarantees timely updates in future for the device.

The Robin is put up for pre-sale at a mere 399$ or about 26000 INR, the company is taking shipping charges of around 70$ or about 4000 INR. So, the total package of booking the phone is going to cost around 470$ or about 30000 INR which is a competitive price for phone loaded with such features. The Launch date of February 2016 has been confirmed by the company and pre-order of the smartphone has already begun.

A problem in the phone

However, the catch to the unlimited storage is that the initial cloud storage capacity is around 100 GB; the phone in order to free up space in  the internal storage will move applications which are not used frequently to the cloud storage which can be a problem as it will be difficult in areas with poor cellular connectivity. The company will extend the capacity if 100GB is filled up, without charging for the extra space.
