We all are madly in love with Bollywood and eagerly wait for the weekly release to hit the theatres. Sometimes we fall in love with some of the characters and some we despise because of their portrayal on screen. There are some iconic hero and villain pairings which left us all stunned because of the hatred they depicted. Here are some of them.

  • Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and Kancha Cheena (Agneepath) – Who can forget this intense pairing of two of the most iconic stars of that time. While the hatred between them could be felt by the viewers the end saw many people actually weeping for both of them.
  • Aamir Khan and Naseeruddin Shah (Sarfarosh) – Though the hero of the movie was ACP Ajay Singh Rathod he shared a friendly relationship with the villain Gulfam Hassan. However when Ajay comes to know of Gulfam’s illegal activities his anger could not be hidden.
  • Meenakshi Sheshadri and Amrish Puri (Damini) – Totally unrelated otherwise Meenakshi comes face to face with Amrish puri in association with a rape case. The manner in which he tears apart her sanity made people hate him like anything.
  • Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal (Om shanti Om) – A story of past life reincarnation Shahrukh Khan tried his best to put Arjun behind the bars for his crime. But as you know the villain never loses so easily in Bollywood and so he did not budge too.
  • Sanjeev Kumar – Amjad Khan (Sholay)-Gabbar killed his entire family and so Thakur had to take revenge. Though he called upon Jai and Veeru to do so the last fight he accomplished himself giving us an idea of his hatred for the man.
  • Sunny Deol and Danny Denzongpa (Ghatak) – Kashi comes to Mumbai to get his father treated but gets embroiled in a fight with Katya’s henchmen. The enmity rises in proportion and ends with the killing of Katya at Kashi’s hand.
  • Rana Daggubati- Anushka Shetty (Bahubali series) – Married to his brother Amarendra he makes her a widow soon after. Years later when her son comes to take revenge she does not leave any stone unturned to make sure he dies a painful death.
  • Amrish Puri- Anil Kapoor (Mr India) – His famous dialogue was enough to scare anyone but our dear India. Amrish puri used his eyes convincingly to scare the wits out of all the characters of this movie.
  • Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor and Kulbhushan Kharbanda (Shaan) – Shakaal was responsible for killing their elder brother played by Sunil Dutt. Therefore it became important for both the brothers to join hands and teach him a lesson.
  • Ajit and Shatrughan Sinha (Kalicharan) – One of the biggest hits of its time the villain Lion was too menacing to be true. However, that did not stop Kalicharan from taking revenge for the murder of his doppelganger.
  • Pran and Dilip Kumar (Ram and Shyam) – This movie saw two Dilip Kumar’s taking revenge on Pran i.e. Gajendra. While the docile Ram gives into his tantrums the brave Shyam does come and set matters right.
  • Anupam Kher and Dilip Kumar (Karma) – Alike to Sholay Dang is responsible for getting the entire family of Dilip Kumar killed. He then hires three people in his mission to bring Dr. Dang to book.
  • Kajol and Manisha Koirala (Gupt) – When Kajol took up the role of Isha little did she know that it would bring instant stardom to her. The moments she exchanges with Manisha are sure to convey the intensity of the hatred between them.
  • Kanhaiya Lal and Sunil Dutt (Mother India) – The enmity arose because Sukhi Lala wanted to take advantage of Birju’s mother. In return, Sunil Dutt leaves no opportunity to tell him where his real place is.
  • Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil (Mirch Masala) – Two of the greatest Hindi movie stars came together to give a performance worth remembering. The animosity between them was more of a fight about protecting one’s self-worth from lecherous males like the character Shah played.
